Memory Box Frame

Just a short post today to show you a quick card I made with a Memory Box frame die.  I simply die cut the paper, layered it over the text paper and added a few more layers.

I added the butterfly and gems as an after thought.  Finished size is 4 3/4 x 6.
Have a great evening!
  • Stamps: None!
  • Dies: Memory Box - Rhone Butterfly Wings, Toulouse Background
  • Paper: misc DSP

Holtz Christmas Poinsettia

The inspiration for today's card is from Elly and is found here.  She went all cream but I decided to do red and gold.  I substituted a Memory Box die for the curls on each side and my Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia die for the flower.

The most tedious part of assembling this card is putting all the tiny pieces of foam tape behind the die cuts.  But, it is essential for dimension!  I curled the petals of the flowers before gluing it together.
The finished size is 6 3/8 x 4 1/2.
  • Stamps: None!
  • Ink: Cat's Eye - Chestnut Roan
  • Paper: Lily Bee Designs - Jingle 6x6, Shimmer gold
  • Dies: Sizzix - Tim Holtz - Tattered Poinsettia, Spellbinders - Captivating Squares, Decorative Labels 8, Memory Box - Tiffany Frame
  • Other: Perfect Layers, Gold Pearls, LOTS of foam tape

Happy Birthday Sue!

I sat down to make a card for my friend Sue with the pretty rolled and layered flowers I made and this is what came of it.  I was inspired by a blogger over in Poland named Klaudia.  Her work is fantastic!
I used LOTS of dies for this one!

The smallest rose was made using MFT Rolled Roses.  The medium rose has a MFT Rolled Rose in the middle and Spellbinders Rose Creations dies on the outside.  The BIG rose has Spellbinders Rose Creations dies on the outside and a Bitty Blossoms die on the inside.
The finished size is 5.5 square.

  • Stamps:  Serendipity Stamps - Happy Birthday 093D, SU! - Bella Toile, ALL NIGHT MEDIA - Sharyn Sowell text stamp
  • Paper: Neenah - Classic Crest Natural White, green card stock
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Faded Jeans
  • Spellbinders: Labels 20, Rose Creations, Bitty Blossoms, Elegant Ovals
  • MFT: Rolled Roses
  • Memory Box: Chloe Stem
  • Other: May Arts twine, cream lace

Elegant Rectangles

I have another card for you today inspired by Elly!  Rather than leaving it all white I decided to go with some Tim Holtz Distress Crushed Olive ink and paper.  I used lots of dies from different companies for my floral centerpiece.

When I build my flowers I always ink the edges before I layer or roll them.  Sometimes they need a little more color so I add color after they are made.
I had so much fun building it!
 Finished size is 7 x 5.

  • Ink: Distress Ink - Crushed Olive
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest - Natural White, Ranger - Core'dinations - Distress Collection
  • Dies: Spellbinders - Elegant Rectangles, Rose Creations, Foliage, Bitty Blossoms; Impression Obsession - Leafy Branch; Marianne Designs- Leaves LR0227; Memory Box - Fern
  • Other: Ultimate Crafter's Pick Glue, 3M Foam Tape

Back again as Guest Designer with the Color Throwdown Challege!  Our colors today were chosen by Lori.  When I saw the colors I immediately wanted to use this Flourishes Lenten Rose image because of the pink and the size.  And, within about a month, these will be blooming in my garden.
Finished size is 5 x 5.

FALL - Timeless Tuesday

The theme for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday is FALL!  I made this card a long time ago and intended to send it in to the Take Ten layout challenge but it never made it into the mail!  Oh well!
I colored the urn and fruit with Copics and cut it out using a classic oval die.  Not much else to tell.
I hope everyone is enjoying the cooler weather. Have a relaxing weekend!

Purple Hydrangea FTTC 175

As my blue and purple hydrangeas are fading I wanted to post another card with a blue/purple bloom. It is looking pretty blue in the picture but is much more purple in person, including the paper.  I embossed the bloom with black ink and clear embossing powder so it shines a bit.
The black layer behind the die cut is hand cut.

The challenge for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday is to use your FAVORITE FLOURISHES STAMP along with your FAVORITE DIE(s) and to finish your card/project off with your absolute FAVORITE EMBELLISHMENTS!  Easy pick for me to use Flourishes Hydrangea stamp as my favorite!  I have many favorite dies and right now it is Spellbinders Labels 22.  Chevron patterns are so popular right now and I just love this May Arts Chevron ribbon in black and white.
Finished size is 5.25 square.
  • Stamps: Flourishes - Hydrangeas, SU! Happy Birthday
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Paper: Neenah Solar White, black, Memory Box - Viola 6x6
  • Copics: Bloom: B0000, B63, B66, B23, BV01, V15, Leaves: G40, G43, G46
  • Other: Spellbinders - Labels 22, May Arts ribbon, Perfect Layers, Corner Chomper, SU! Ticket Corner punch, clear embossing powder

Hydrangea - CTD191

As soon as I saw the new Flourishes Hydrangea set I knew I had to have it!!  The blooms look so real especially compared to other stamps out there.  Here I combined it with the Flourishes seed packet stamp for an interesting focal point.  But, you can't buy seeds for hydrangeas!  If you could I'd go into business growing hydrangeas.

I colored the blooms with my Copic Markers using the tip-to-tip technique.  This works especially well when you are using colors from 2 different color families (V, B and BV in this case).  It makes for easier color blending.  Most hydrangeas are multi-colored so you will see me doing this a lot.

My colors work nicely with this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.
The colors are:
  • Stamps: Flourishes - Hydrangea, Seeds of Friendship
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black
  • Paper: Neenah Solar White, Memory Box - Viola 6x6, SU! Cardstock - Close to Cocoa, Brocade Blue
  • Copics: E70, E71, G40, G43, G46, B0000, B21, B45, BV02, V12, V15
  • Other: Perfect Layers, SU! ribbons, blue button, bakers twine

My only Nigra hydrangea bloom this year!  In the past it bloomed so well but not this year.  It is much more purple this year than blue probably because the past few years I've been adding lime to my soil throughout the whole garden.  Nice for a change!

LaBlanche Birdcage C4C133

The challege over at Crazy 4 Challenges this week is to use black to make your card POP!  I think black ink and black matting makes this image pop!

I made this card for a shoebox swap with friends and it was well received.  After your paper is die cut it goes together quickly.  I used Distress Ink around the edges to highlight the center.  Finished size is 5.5 square.
  • Stamps: LaBlanche - Birdcage
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black, Ranger Distress - Old Paper
  • Paper: Neenah Natural White, PTI - Black, MME patterned paper 12x12
  • Other: Memory Box - Amira Flourish die, Spellbinders - Lables 1, Labels 15, SU! ribbon

Haunted Forest

One last Halloween card for you to see!  I used a few new products by Memory Box that I just love.  I die cut the embossed image with Labels 22 and while still in the die, I ran a Micron pen around the inside of the die.  After taking it out of the die I ran a reddish Copic marker (E08) around the border, a tip I got from my friend Jenny.

The fun swirl in the corner is a new die by Memory Box called Elegant Scrollwork.  I think I'll be using this one a lot!  Finished size is 5.25 square.

  • Stamps: Haunted Forest - Stampin' UP!
  • Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
  • Paper: Memory Box - Nightfall, Neenah Natural White, PTI Black cardstock
  • Dies: Spellbinders - Classic Circles & Labels 22, Memory Box - Elegant Scrollwork
  • Other: Copics, clear embossing powder, Micron pen
