G45 Secret Garden Book

Graphic 45's new line of paper called Secret Garden was used to make my latest book.  I used the 12 x 12 paper to make this 6 1/4 x 4 1/4 book.  The front cover is decorated with a frame I cut out and the garden page trimmed and set behind the frame.  The wood flourish is lightly painted with white and glued in the corner.
The inside pages are 4 x 6.  I wrapped each signature of pages with 2 picture panels from the 12 x 12 sheet called May Flowers.

In this view you can see the Coptic stitching on the side.  I used my Japanese Screw Punch to make the holes in the covers.  There are great Coptic Stitch instructional videos on You Tube if you're interested.

Here is the back cover which is decorated with more Secret Garden paper and a die cut butterfly.

This is inside the front cover and the first section of signatures.  The pictures are so beautiful and color coordinated.  This was a really fun book to make.  I'll be posting my G45 French Country book soon.

Long Book with Girl

Today I thought I'd show you another one of my long books with copic and long stitching.  It measures 10.5 x 4.5 inches.  I got the pictures from an old children's book.  Each signature is wrapped with a fancy cut decorative paper or a vintage book page.
This book took about 4.5 hours to make.  I felt like it was worth it!

  • Stamps: none
  • Ink: none
  • Paper: Decorative Papers from Binders and from inside a vintage childrens book, 60 lb text cream speckled  paper for inside pages
  • Other: chipboard, waxed blue thread, awl, PVA glue mixted with methyl cellulose

School Days Long Book

Another of my long books to share.  It is made with October Afternoon's Report Card paper.  I love the look of vintage school ephemera and this has it without the aged paper!  The inside pages are graph paper and lined notbook paper so it would make a good school journal.  There are 7 signatures and it is all coptic stitched.  Size is 10.5 x 4.25.
  • Supplies: book board, PVA adhesive, red thread
  • Paper: October Afternoon Report Card 8x8, lined notebook paper, graph paper
  • Tools: Japanese Screw Punch, Genesis Trimmer, paint brush

Long Books

Here are two of my favorite "Long Books" I made last year from paper I got at Binders. The binding is called the long stitch but I call them Long Books because of the height.  The green one has some coptic stitching as well.  They are 10.5 x 4.5.
These books take 4 to 5 hours to make.  But, they are worth it!
  • Stamps: none
  • Ink: none
  • Paper: Decorative Papers from Binders and from inside a vintage childrens book, resume paper for inside pages
  • Other: chipboard, waxed thread, awl, PVA glue
