Art Impressions Cards

Recently we had Sandy Allnock teach her classes at Impressive Ideas
at it got me started again on the Art Impressions Watercolor Stamps.
I bought my first wood mounted Watercolor Stamps about
10 years agoand I've been hooked ever since!

I can't draw so these stamps are ideal for me to get a
watercolored look.  I usually copy the ideas off the package
and find that works for me.  I need an image to start my
stamping and find that there are also great ideas on Pinterest.
Get some stamps and give it a try!

SSCB #55 - Die Cuts!

This months Challenge is to use a die cut! EASY!
You can find all the details to play along HERE.

I used the Happy Birthday die cuts for my card.
Initially I popped the words with black fun foam but it was too bold.
So, I went back to one layer.
The black picks up the black center of the flower nicely.

Inside my card I stamped part of the From Me to You stamp.
Finished size is 6 3/8 x 4 3/8.

I made a little tag with the Daisy Garden die.
Finished size is 3 1/2 x 2 3/8.

Feel like shopping? Our Lemonade pitcher stamp is 50%
off this month.

We have a very special guest this month!

This month the theme is "Embossing".
Check out the SSCB here to play along in our monthly challenge.
We are just about 1/2 way through the month so you still have time!

The Design Team has an added challenge on this hop to include
Get Well/Thinking of You/Sympathy in our projects.

You should have arrived here from:

I made two cards to share with you today.  My first card has heat embossing on the
image and sentiment.  I used a Canvas paper which is bumpy and doesn't take
stamping ink so well. So, using my MISTI tool I stamped them twice using
Versafine ink then clear embossed them.

The finished size is 4 1/2 square.

For my second card I used the new Sympathy die.
The layout is from the MOJO Monday 422 Challenge on April 4.

I heat embossed the word WITH from the small With Sympathy stamp.
I thought the font looked good with the Sympathy font.

The finished size is an A-2.

Next on the HOP is:

Here is the order of the HOP:

Julie Warner
Karen Amidon

The special for the hop is free shipping on all US orders $20 and up  – good Wednesday through Sunday 4/20 – 4/24.

Serendipity Stamps - Embossing!

It's April 1st so its time for a new
challenge over at the Serendipity Stamps Blog Challenge!
It is EMBOSSING!  Pick your favorite: HEAT, DRY, or DEBOSS!
You have until Midnight April 30 to linkup your designs! Be sure to
use at least one Serendipity image in your design.

I decided to go with the GET WELL die for my floral card.
I thought the pretty blue flowers would make a good companion to the sentiment.

My card is just shy of an A-2 size at 4 1/4 x 5 1/4.  Add a bow tied with seam binding
and a BOW EASY and a Wild Orchid flower and Voila'!

Inside I stamped the beautiful dogwood image in blue ink to match.
I was inspired by the white dogwood trees that are blooming
in my backyard and all around Atlanta right now!

Now my card is ready for a sick friend or family member.

We have a very special guest this month!
Our good friend from the North (Canada)

Altenew Peony

Happy New Year!
A few weeks ago I made a few cards with Altenew's new stamp set, Beautiful Day.  I was inspired by cards made by their design team.
I just love peonies and pink ones especially but most of the cards I've made with Altenew's flower sets I've used pink ink.  So, I went with orange this time.

Inside I stamped the largest layer with the solid flower around the edges.
This card is on display at Impressive Ideas in Norcross, Georgia.

For my second card I simply stamps the outline layer in black
on watercolor paper.  I used ZIG Clean Color markers to color
the image along with Tim Holtz's water brush.

Here's hoping you have a happy 2016 and find time to create!

  • Stamps: Altenew - Beautiful Day, Label Love
  • Paper: Neenah - Solar White 110b, Bazzill Heavyweight Gumdrop, Ranger Watercolor Paper
  • Ink: Versafine - Onyx Black, My Favorite Things Hybrid - Coral Crush, Orange Fizz, Tangy Orange, Gumdrop, Sour Apple

Serendipity Stamps - APRIL Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Serendipity Stamps April Blog Hop!!  I hope you have enjoyed seeing the new products on the HOP!  I made a Peony card with the darling new stamp shown on the banner above.

You should have arrived here from:
Marybeth Lopez

I made a unique folding card for the HOP.  The flap with the Peony on it opens up and the flap at the bottom opens down to reveal the message on the inside of the card.

Just something different for a change!
I embossed the pink background paper with an embossing folder for texture.

I have 2 peony shrubs in my garden and wish I could grow more.  Here in Atlanta it gets too hot too fast for the blooms to survive very long.  So, almost as soon as they open, the petals start falling off.  A professional told me to get the Festiva Maxima variety for the best result.  It is white with a streak of magenta in the center.  I can wait till the blooms open!

Here is a picture from last May.  You can barely see the magenta streaks.

I am the last blog on the list.
Here is the whole list in case you need it:

Serendipity Stamps - Hidden Gems #2

Continuing with the Hidden Gems challenge for you from the
Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog.
To participate just use any of Serendipity's images or dies in your creation and something from your stash that you haven't used in awhile for a chance to win!

I did a little masking which I haven't done in a while.  I dusted off my Post-It notes and covered the strawberries in the corner and the blue flowers. Next, I stamped my blue bells stamp in green ink there at the bottom.  They fill in the blank space nicely.

I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the sentiment and butterfly.
I just love stamping on patterned paper!

Inside my card I stamped the Blue bells again and one of the lovely 4 butterflies from the Butterfly Set.  I used Distress Ink for a subtle look.

Finished size is 6" x 4 1/4".

Feel like shopping? The sale this week is free shipping on any
US order $15 or more. Good through 1/27.

Serendipity Stamps - Hidden Gems #1

With the new month we are starting a Hidden Gems challenge
To participate just use any of Serendipity's images or dies in your creation and something from your stash that you haven't used in awhile for a chance to win!

For my card I used two things from my stash that I haven't used in awhile.  I pulled out my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the floral corners and sentiment on my card.  I also used my Versafine - Smokey Grey ink for the sentiment.  I wanted  a color a bit softer than black.

Inside my card I stamped the floral corner again and one of the lovely 4 butterflies from the Butterfly Set.  Adds a nice nature touch I think.

Finished size is 6 1/4" x 5 1/4".

This week's sale is buy 3 get 1 free.   Good through Jan 14th!
