Victory Garden!

Victory Garden is our theme for this week's Serendipity Stamps Challenge!  Anything garden related BUT flowers can be used.  Play along to win a prize!
For my card I used the Large Olive Branch stamp.  I inked it up with a green ink pad then wiped off the olives.  I used a purple marker to ink the olives.  After I stamped it I lightly used my Copics to color in the olives and leaves with lighter colors.

Check out what the rest of the Design Team created!

Happy Birthday Sue!

I sat down to make a card for my friend Sue with the pretty rolled and layered flowers I made and this is what came of it.  I was inspired by a blogger over in Poland named Klaudia.  Her work is fantastic!
I used LOTS of dies for this one!

The smallest rose was made using MFT Rolled Roses.  The medium rose has a MFT Rolled Rose in the middle and Spellbinders Rose Creations dies on the outside.  The BIG rose has Spellbinders Rose Creations dies on the outside and a Bitty Blossoms die on the inside.
The finished size is 5.5 square.

  • Stamps:  Serendipity Stamps - Happy Birthday 093D, SU! - Bella Toile, ALL NIGHT MEDIA - Sharyn Sowell text stamp
  • Paper: Neenah - Classic Crest Natural White, green card stock
  • Ink: Distress Ink - Faded Jeans

Elegant Rectangles

I have another card for you today inspired by Elly!  Rather than leaving it all white I decided to go with some Tim Holtz Distress Crushed Olive ink and paper.  I used lots of dies from different companies for my floral centerpiece.

When I build my flowers I always ink the edges before I layer or roll them.  Sometimes they need a little more color so I add color after they are made.
I had so much fun building it!
 Finished size is 7 x 5.

  • Ink: Distress Ink - Crushed Olive
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest - Natural White, Ranger - Core'dinations - Distress Collection
  • Dies: Spellbinders - Elegant Rectangles, Rose Creations, Foliage, Bitty Blossoms; Impression Obsession - Leafy Branch; Marianne Designs- Leaves LR0227; Memory Box - Fern
  • Other: Ultimate Crafter's Pick Glue, 3M Foam Tape

Serendipity - Masculine Challenge

This week's challenge at Serendipity Stamps is to make a masculine card.  I had this great fish stamp and I thought about fishing during retirement.  The fish is stamped in 2 colors and the brown ones are popped for dimension.

I like to stamp my sentiments on light paper that is part of the DSP collection.  That way it matches better than using white or cream.  You can see in this close-up picture that I wrapped the paper with burlap twine for some texture.
You can barely see that I stamped the Crappie Jig fly stamp on the green paper with green ink.  You can see it better IRL.

Finished size is 4.5 x 8.5.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team made:

We'd love for you to play along and be eligible to win a prize.

Spellbinders - Radiant Rectangles

When Spellbinders came out with their latest release I just knew I had to have Radiant Rectangles!  I have been using it like crazy lately!  I was inspired by a blogger named Elly I found on Pinterest HERE.  Her work is stunning!

If you use patterned paper with this die it should be simple with a small pattern.  I chose Graphic 45's Secret Garden's small purple print.  The most difficult part of making this card was cutting and putting all the foam tape on the backside of the die cuts.
Finished size is 6 3/8 x 4 3/8.

Here is a second card I made with some roses and leaf sprays from MFT.  The ink and paper colors really do match in person.  They look 'off' in the picture.

Here is a closeup of the roses in the center of the card.
Both of these cards would make great Mother's Day cards.
Finished size is 6 x 4.
  • Stamps: None!
  • Ink: Distress - Tattered Roses
  • Paper: Neenah Classic Crest - Natural White, SU! Blushing Bride, Graphic 45 - Secret Garden
  • Dies: Spellbinders - Radiant Rectangles, MFT - Rolled Roses, Medium Leafy Flourish, OH My! Crafts -  Butterfly
  • Other: Pearls

Serendipity - Pears!

Serendipity Stamps is having a Blog Hop to show off their spring release!  The lovely pear above comes in a stamp AND die!  For this card I die cut it in gold paper.  I always associate gold with pears.

Here you can see some of the detail.  The frame is made from Labels 28 dies.  Finished size is 6 x 4 1/4.

My next card is made with the pear stamp.  Versafine Spanish Moss is a great color for pears!  I added a bit of bling in the corners to make it fancy.
The finished size is 5 1/2 by 4 3/4.

If you leave a comment on each of the Design Team's blogs you'll be eligible to win the pear stamp and die and matching sentiment!
