SSCB #44 My Guy

We have a new challenge over at the Serendipity Stamps Challenge Blog!
It's MY GUY.  Your project can have anything manly or a masculine theme to it!  The added challenge for the Design Team is to add texture.  I used an embossing folder with my card and some rustic ribbon.

I just love these pheasants and they look good stamped in one color as well. But, this time I decided to color them with Copics.  I also embossed the image with Moss embossing powder for texture.

Here is a close up so you could see the embossed background.  Love the weave pattern!  Autumn is stamped in my favorite Versafine color - Spanish Moss.

I decided to make this a birthday card and stamped the inside with the pheasants again.
Finished size is 4 3/4 x 5 1/4.

Stamp of the month is the grill - 50% off

Just in time for Father's Day!

Graphic 45 - Good ol' Sport Mini Book

Finally!  Memorial Day weekend is here!  It's a long wait for a Monday holiday after MLK day!  I will be gardening in my yard and probably power washing something.  I hope to continue designing some Graphic 45 By the Sea cards for my next class.

I made another mini book using Susan Lui's tutorial found HERE.  Remember to decorate the inside pages before adding your cover.  The pages will open flat before the cover is added.

I just love the images in Good ol' Sport!  Easy to fussy cut and lots of pictures with straight edges for even easier cutting.

My back cover was as fun to decorate as the front.  The Banners and Tags go great with this size book.  The scale is just right so I used lots of them.  Finished size is 4 x 3.

Have a GREAT long weekend everyone!

  • Stamps: none
  • Ink: Cat's Eye - Blackbird Chalk Ink
  • Paper: Graphic 45 - Good ole Sport: 12 x 12, 8 x 8 and 6 x 6
  • Other: Graphic 45 - Good ole Sport: Banners and Tags, twine, misc button

Graphic 45 Good Ol' Sport Cards

Today I have 2 cards to show you that I made from Graphic 45's Good Ol' Sport paper.  The first one is a tri-fold gift card holder that measures 4 x 12.

The inside folds have 2 pockets you can fill.  Put in a birthday greeting and a gift card for the sportsman in your life.  Maybe one from the Sports Authority or Dick's Sporting Goods?

This card could be given to the golf or tennis lover.  I fussy cut the couple out of the 12x12 paper and popped them on the card with foam tape.

A little piece of chipboard adorns the corner.
I love using the 6x6 matching paper on the inside of the card.  Add a liner, border and tiny postcard to finish it off.  I left the inside blank so I can stamp a sentiment later.
This one measures 6 x 4 1/4.

Have a great weekend everyone!
  • Paper: Good Ol' Sport 6x6, 8x8, 12x12, Bazzill Heavyweight 12 x 12 Navy card stock, Neenah Black Linen
  • Color Box - Cat's Eye - Chestnut Roan and Blackbird
  • Other: G45 Good Ol' Sport Chipboard, May Arts - Black Crinkle ribbon

Serendipity - Masculine Challenge

This week's challenge at Serendipity Stamps is to make a masculine card.  I had this great fish stamp and I thought about fishing during retirement.  The fish is stamped in 2 colors and the brown ones are popped for dimension.

I like to stamp my sentiments on light paper that is part of the DSP collection.  That way it matches better than using white or cream.  You can see in this close-up picture that I wrapped the paper with burlap twine for some texture.
You can barely see that I stamped the Crappie Jig fly stamp on the green paper with green ink.  You can see it better IRL.

Finished size is 4.5 x 8.5.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team made:

We'd love for you to play along and be eligible to win a prize.

Serendipity Stamps - Retirement

Retirement is the theme this week at Serendipity Stamps!  I imagine that when people who like to fish retire, this is where you'll find them - at the dock!  The rowboat looks MUCH redder in the picture than in real life! And I even toned it down with W2 over the red.
The Sailor's Knot Tutorial is by Barb Anders located HERE.
Finished size is 5 4/3 x 4 3/4.

FTTC 173 Father's Day

Flourishes Timeless Tuesday's challenge this week is to make a Father's Day project.  My Dad did teach me how to fish on summer vacations when I was young.  I never wanted to put the worm on the hook so he would always do that for me.  Thanks Dad!

  • Paper: Neenah Natural White, Bo Bunny - Gabrielle 6x6, brown cardstock

FTTC163 - Happy Birthday!

The Timeless Tuesday Challenge over at Flourishes this week is to make a Birthday card!  So, I decided to go the masculine route since I have 4 brothers-in-law (and no brothers!).   I stamped the medallion in Rich Cocoa ink so I could color it with my Copics.

I cut it out by hand and glued it to a piece of brown cardstock.  Then I cut the 8 sides so it would make a nice mat for the medallion.  I popped the sentiment and added a copper dragonfly brad for fun.
Finished card is 5.25 square.
  • Stamps: Flourishes - Medallion Motif, Tag Lines
  • Ink: Memento - Rich Cocoa
  • Paper: Neenah Natural White, brown cardstock, misc DSP
  • Other: Copics, Spellbinders Classic Circle dies, brad

Serendipity: On or In the Water Challenge

This week's challenge over at Serendipity Stamps is "On or In the Water"!  So, I took these Canadian geese over water (sorry, not "on" or "in") to create my card.  I started with the black embossed stamp image and sentiment and added some new Tim Holtz Kraft Resist paper.  I colored the Kraft Resist paper up with Chipped Sapphire ink first. For the image I added a tiny bit of Copic color to the geese and cattails for interest.  Sanding the Chipped Sapphire cardstock gave it a distressed look without looking too sloppy.
  Finished size is 8 x 5.5 (it's BIG!)

Check out what the other SS design team members came up with:
Jenny AnyaKathie and Lynda....
  • Ink: SU! Basic Black Craft Ink, Ranger Chipped Sapphire
  • Paper: SU! Kraft, Tim Holtz Kraft Resist & Core'dinations paper, black cardstock
  • Other:  Clear embossing powder, Copics, Tim Holtz button, block sander, twine, Spellbinders Nesties Classic Squares & Rectangles

Father's Day Fishing Hat

A few weeks ago I made this card for a design challenge and didn't get a chance to post it!  I figured I should post it before Father's Day.  I had fun coloring and airbrushing (while still in the die) the image to match this colorful Bo Bunny DSP.  Who says you can't use pink on a masculine card?!
  • Stamps: Flourishes - What a Catch!
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Versafine Onyx Black for sentiment
  • Paper: Neenah Solar White, Bo Bunny Vicki B 6x6, SU! Early Espresso
  • Other: Spellbinders Ovals & Labels 18, SU! scalloped punch & button, textured metal brads, Copics, ABS

Father's Day - Flourishes Timeless Tuesday

Flourishes is having another Timeless Tuesday Challenge and this time it's for Father's Day.  You can check out the rules on their site by clicking the link above.  Well, even though my Dad doesn't fish I made a fishing card because I love the Flourishes set, What a Catch!  You will probably see this set used a lot for this challenge since it is new.
Lots of people have to travel to go fishing so I wanted to pair my image up with some travelish paper.  Even though it is Prima's Botanical paper, it looks like postcards.  If I travel somewhere fun I always send postcards back to family and friends.
For a rustic look I airbrushed the edges of the image and the sentiment.  I used lots of Nesties for style and textured brads to go along with the rustic look.  Finished size is 7 1/4 x 4 1/4.
  • Stamps: Flourishes - What a Catch!
  • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black,Versafine Onyx Black and Color Box Cat's Eye Chestnut Roan
  • Paper:  Prima Botanicals 6x6, SU! Early Espresso, Neenah Natural White
  • Other: Spellbinders Nesties Labels 11 & 18, Grommet Tags, textured brads, ABS, Copics

Repeat Impressions Designer Challenge

It's time for another Designer's Choice Challenge over at Repeat Impressions (DCC68) and we'd love for you to play along!  Lynette chose texture for a Father's Day card. So, I selected the Divi Divi Tree stamp (2409-M) for my image.  I inked it up with markers and stamped it on Neenah Natural White.  I used a blender pen to do a little blending of the colors and cut it out using Spellbinders Labels 11.  The card needed texture so I took the woodgrain embossing folder by Sizzix and embossed the woodgrain paper and rubbed brown ink on the raised parts.  A simple sentiment for Father's Day, a little ribbon, some textured brads and done!  Finished card is 4 3/4 by 7 3/4.
Check out what the other Rock Stars made at The House That Stamps Built!
