School Days Long Book

Another of my long books to share.  It is made with October Afternoon's Report Card paper.  I love the look of vintage school ephemera and this has it without the aged paper!  The inside pages are graph paper and lined notbook paper so it would make a good school journal.  There are 7 signatures and it is all coptic stitched.  Size is 10.5 x 4.25.
  • Supplies: book board, PVA adhesive, red thread
  • Paper: October Afternoon Report Card 8x8, lined notebook paper, graph paper
  • Tools: Japanese Screw Punch, Genesis Trimmer, paint brush

On the Green again

Another card with the On the Green stamp by SU!  I wanted the image to be multi-colored but it is hard to achieve strong colors using the direct to rubber method.  So, I found my Kaleidacolor Fruitcake ink pad.  It has 3 shades of green, purple and red.  I paired it up with Ruby Red, Rich Razzleberry and dark green cardstock.  The circle under the sentiment is a "golf ball" made the same way I did on the first On the Green card.
  • Stamps: Stampin' UP!: One the Green, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Woodgrain
  • Ink: Kaleidacolor: Fruitcake, SU! Rich Razzleberry
  • Paper: SU! Ruby Red, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, dark green
  • Other: Cuddlebug embossing folder, SU! Word Window & Modern Label & 1 inch circle punchs, silver pearls, Heart of Heart embosslit

MOJO174 On the Green

Mojo Monday's weekly sketch inspired this card.  I had my  On the Green stamp out and I needed to make a card with it.  I stamped it several times in several colors, embossing some.  I cut out some elements and glued them on top of the image and in the lower right corner.  I created the golf ball by embossing the 1 inch white circle in my SU! Embosslits Die Scalloped Heart of Hearts.  The dots are so much closer and deeper than any of the dot embossing folders available.  Finished size is 4.25 x 5.5.
  • Stamps: Stampin' UP! On the Green
  • Ink: SU! Craft Chocolate Chip & Classic Garden Green and Versafine Crimson Red
  • Paper: SU! Garden Green, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip & Woodland Walk DPS

Long Book with Reading Boy

Here is a book I made awhile ago using paper from an old children's book about children's books!  The book highlighted the illustrations from other books so this little boy reading was featured big and small.  I cut out the small picture and glued it over the cover for fun.  I highlighted the small one in pencil and outlined it in black.  The book is 10.5 inches tall and 4.5 wide, my favorite size!  The spine is secured with long stitches and coptic stitches.  Here is a look at the back of the book:
I love the black, white and red color combo of this one.  The inspiration for this came from my great bookmaking teacher, Anne Elser.  Thanks for looking.
  • Materials: bookboard, thick red washi paper, waxed black thread, PVA, vintage book pages, 70 lb white text paper for inside pages

    Chair-ish your Friendship

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I made this card from a kit that one of my Krafty Kats stampers put together. KK is a group of stampers I belong to that meets monthly to eat, stamp and share our work.  We used to take turns putting together a monthly kit that we would make anything we wanted with it.  After several years of doing it, we decided to take a break from the kits.  One of my favorite techniques is paper-piecing and this card is a good example of it.  Just stamp your chair on your card and patterned paper, cut out and glue it down!  Finished size is 4 5/8 x 4 5/8.

My light tent has arrived so you will soon see better photos of my work.  AND.....BLOG CANDY is coming soon as well so be sure to subscribe to my postings so you'll be notified!
